December 25th – Hospitality and Hosting

On the sixth day of Yule is meant to honor the ideas of hospitality and giving – visiting and hosting friends and family and adding our energy and blessing to theirs. The giving of gifts has long been a way to re-affirm or create new social ties. Once necessary for survival, gifting lingers today as a way to strengthen our ties of those we care about.
Tonight we hosted family at our annual Julebord – a family feast of smoked and cured meats, cheeses, dried nuts and fruits, a hearty stew and finished with krumkake, pies and sweets. It was lovely to connect again around the feast, drinking and eating and talking and laughing together.
